Emirates Steel Industries is producing steel reinforcing bars to specification BS4449/97 .As per specification BS4449/97; third party product certification from authorized agency is required. There is demand from market including the works dept to seek authorized third party approval of our products.

Cares is the authorized agency to issue third party certificate and is accredited by the National accreditation council for certification bodies, an organization established by UK government. Assessors of cares are Registered ISO-9001 lead assessors and all independent testing is carried out by UKAS accredited laboratories.

Cares is a certification body accredited for both Quality system and product conformity assessment. Cares certification scheme was created by nominated representatives of member organization, which include clients, steel producers, specifiers and other construction industry professionals. Assessment apart from product testing requirements involves ability to trace material, evaluation of process capability and feed back mechanism. Cares approved material has the special cares rolling mark on the rebars unique to each producer.

The prime objective of cares certification is to ensure consistent compliance of product with appropriate product standards and customer specification. The means of providing consistent compliance with the standard shall be the formal management system for quality, which is subject to audit at periodic intervals. The method of verification of compliance of product is by independent inspection and testing of the product. Cares certification of the quality management system and product in specification would provide the confidence to use such material with no further testing.

In view of this it was decided to get Cares approval.

Obtaining Cares approval has helped Emirates Steel Industries to be recognized as a standard producer and supplier of reinforcing bars to comply fully the specification requirements. Customer’s confidence level will be high to use the Emirates Steel Industries material with the cares logo mark. The cost of additional testing on site and delays will be minimized at customers end.

Further with periodic surveillance and independent assessment there is scope for continuous improvement.
